[Their meeting had been serendipitous from the start. From a misfired text to lingerie pictures, the two of them had somehow started meeting up to run every morning exactly at 6am. It became a routine complimented with texts back and forth. She made it no secret that she liked his company, his uniquely dry sense of humour and the way he smiled though it tended to be a rare occurrence.
A morning routine had eventually become after-run-snack dates, lunch dates and now here they were nearly two months later on their first overnight trip together. Their camping trip was something they had planned together for a while, and Veronica had been more than excited, her cheerfulness only growing at the clearweather, the soft crunch of leaves under their feet and then the discovery of a clear river and a waterfall. Laughing she had taken his hand in hers, linking their fingers as she had drawn him over. The water had been icy cold but she was starting to slowly dry (and thaw a little) by the time they reached their little campsite and was warm now that they were sitting outside of their tent, watching as the sun slowly slips below the horizon and the first stars begin to wink into view.
It's a beautiful, unseasonably warm autumn night and it's the warm presence of him by her side that has her smiling softly and lacing their fingers together as she gently tugs on his hand to get his attention before leaning in to kiss him sweetly.]

Nature is a good respite from the hustle of bustle of city life and the offer the take a trip to the mountains had been lingering ever since they first texted each other. It's a giant leap from morning met ups and lunch-ins, but he's been looking forward to it since Veronica took up his offer with a sincere smile.
The weather couldn't have been better. Warm for autumn and perfect for drying off in a huddle together, although the latter part tends to be true regardless. More so than the weather, it's the tug at his hand and kiss that warm him.
He lingers before the call for breath makes demands he pulls back bearing a toned down grin. Far less goofy than their first encounter, least he continually hopes it is.]
Feeling any warm or should I make a fire? [Because her comfort and state of dryness is far more important than the stars, those tinkling little things they're there to actually see.]
no subject
It's fine-
[Especially when compared to right after she'd gotten out of the water when she had laughed and shivered back into her clothes properly. She tucks her own light jacket a little bit closer before maneuvering his arm so that it lays around her shoulders, encouraging him to put the other around her waist so she can rest against him.]
I'm already feeling much warmer, just like this.
[Her smile is teasing before she turns to look up at the pretty stars. This trip actually served two purposes as far as she was concerned. It wasn't just a big step up in terms of intimacy, of staying together overnight for the first time. But she had also planned to tell him about her family as well. Not just about the magic (though it was possible he may have guessed it already even if she'd never used magic in his presence. The power was in her blood and the scent of magic clung clean and sharp to her skin.). If they were truly going to "be a thing" as her cousin often warned her, the first step was to be honest with each other from the beginning, especially when one of them was third in line to succeed the throne to a magical country.]

The little things like brushing his nose with hers makes the chance of looking like a goof bearable. Super bearable really, he's grinning harder for a second until it settles back into the warm ghost of a smile.]
Naturally high body temperature maybe. [Which is true, but not the total sum of reasons.]
Pretty sure it's your smile though. [Which is also true to him anyways. His eyes reset their focus toward the stars clear in the night away the light pollution of the city. Clouds are sparse streaks doing nothing to disrupt the sights.
The scent of magic in itself wasn't particularly shocking. A chuck of the population was able to conduct it and more simply had the blood channeling through them. What is remarkable to Hiro is Veronica herself; the warm smiles, pleasant attitude, and good humor. It would take that to get from a mistext to here, and he's glad he replied back.]
no subject
Then should I smile at you some more? We can test to see which it is.
[She's partly joking, but she does smile at Hiro very often. Something about him just brought that out in her. Her sigh is warm and gentle as she reaches out to lace her fingers with his.]
Hey...Hiro? There's been something that I've wanted to talk to you about for a while.
no subject
[With his higher running temperature and her warming smile on top of them being in such close contact. His fingers arch slow under the patterns drawn into his hand and open to grant easier access to lace them back together.]
Hm? Yeah, what is it?
[The stars are forgotten, his focus turned to Veronica soon as her words filter through. Talk implies and it's not short effort to bite his tongue in prodding for what was wrong. Nothing may of been wrong, there are other reasons to talk he knows; but it's a thought hard to disassociate with the word.]

She relaxes for a moment, letting the heat of his body soak reassuringly into hers before lightly tightening her grip on his hand and turning some so that she can see his face.]
I'm a princess.
[And following very quickly afterwards, because short and puzzling as her original statement was, this was an explanation and she wanted to make sure this was actually something he could be okay with.]
I'm only third in the line of succession and I don't really live in a palace or anything like that. But I just thought...that it's something I should tell you. I wanted to tell you for a while, actually. [She trails off, looking at his face again because she had come to really like him and she wanted to be truthful with him, no matter what.]
no subject
A princess.
[His body shifts, fingers moving about hers as he collects his thoughts to place them in order. It's a shock, to say little, yet it isn't so much a shock to change things drastically. Veronica is still the same and that above all is what mattered.]
I almost wouldn't believe you if things hadn't played out like they have.
[He shakes his head bearing a slight amused smirk. Hitting off with mistext and lingerie lend itself to discovering she's a princess. It's so unreal that it is real. Hiro perks up after a moment and leans in to kiss her cheek with a quick peck.]
It doesn't change anything, I liked you well already. [The princess aspect really doesn't mean much to him. It never played any part before, so why should it now? His own secret however lays fresh on his mind and now, perhaps, is as good as any time to mention it.]
If we're laying things out... I should probably mention some things myself.
no subject
Aren't we lucky then that our first meeting turned out like that?
[She might not be sitting against him anymore, but settling in front of him means that they can both see each other's expressions more clearly. He has her entire attention and her eyes are warm and fond when she looks at him.]
What is it, Hiro?
[She doesn't immediately think that there might be something wrong, certain that he would tell her if there was. Besides, he liked her and that gave her the courage to sit and wait for him to tell her what was on his mind.]
no subject
He's pinned himself in speaking up about his unique condition that's frankly not too unique. Hiro isn't the only werewolf in the city, probably not even in his apartment, but there's some remaining stigma and fascination with the whole transforming into a wolf like beast that's never going to vanish.]
To think I thought about not answering.
[He had, for a moment, but damage control and interest spurred him on. In away it's damage control again under very different circumstances.]
I'm, ah... a werewolf. [He pauses and lowers his head to watch her expression, the grip on her hands loosening in the event she suddenly broke for run under this new discover.]
So there's that. I mean I get it if it's too weird, but I was gonna tell you after this trip. [Maybe should have before to avoid the awkwardness of being alone with a werewolf suddenly.]
no subject
And while she is surprised, she trusted in calm, reserved Hiro who was gently letting go of her as if to let her leave if she wanted. Veronica catches at his hands instead, holding them tighter as she sits closer, bumping her forehead lightly against his.]
It's not too weird. Not at all.
[She shakes her head as she says this, her blue gaze sincere as she gives his hands a squeeze.]
I'm surprised, but it doesn't change anything. I liked you before that and I still really, really like you.
no subject
Of course she's cool with it; and it's a load off his shoulders mentally and physically when they roll back to relax.]
At all? [She said at all, his eyes glued to hers reading the same sincerity Veronica always holds in her tone. Her hands also place a firmness in her words and make him realize to a greater degree how ridiculous it was to think it mattered in the first place.]
Guess that means nothing has changed between us. [He pulls back the warm smile last seen minutes ago before leaning forward for a kiss.]
no subject
She reaches out to rest her hand lightly against his cheek as he leans in, tilting her head so that she can meet his kiss half-way with a content hum. When the kiss ends, she draws back only enough so that she can whisper softly against his mouth.]
No, I guess not.
[And then with a little laugh because it feels like they've managed to pass a huge hurdle, she's drawing him forward again for another kiss.]
no subject
That's a good thing.
[Kissing however is a better thing and before it registers, Hiro's hand is rising from hers to brush along her shoulder to her neck. Breaking for breath and whispers is customary at this point, he thinks, and he does staying close and at a slant.]
This. This is a very good thing.
[Cheesy as it comes across and he's well aware of, it's a way to summon things up in addition to actions. She to allows for the occasional goofy exposition in the same humor they tend to share.]
no subject
Or did you just mean the two of us together, Hiro? Or maybe both?
[Because she thinks both of those are good things, wonderful things. She couldn't imagine herself anywhere else and she moves a little closer to him, delighting in his subtle chuckle.]
no subject
Hiro thinks himself remarkable at being patient. One of the talents that come with being a werewolf it's said and it's hold true in maintaining good standings. Like this, close and closer, he's of less patience excited by words and acceptance he'd been on the fence about in foolishness.]
I think you're the best though. [It's no accident his nose brushes against hers before he's kissing her for another soft peck. The stars, again, are forgotten as is any chill brought on the weather and dampness.]
no subject
What a coincidence then, that I think you're the one that's the best.
[But she does very much like the way he kisses her and accident or not, she's leaning in again for another kiss, lightly reaching down to wrap her arms around his waist.]
no subject
[Funny coincidences are a plenty however and they've all been pretty good Hiro finds. His throat rumbles in contentment catching her nose and taking in another kiss, the wrap of her arms prying his eyes open curious.
The next kiss is fiercer, lingering longer and bearing down more over those soft pecks that started this.]
no subject
...maybe we're just really, really lucky?
[Because it certainly felt like that sometimes with how they'd managed to meet. Lunch dates...had never been particularly conducive to being too passionate, but the look in her blue eyes is warm as she tugs him closer and tilts her head to kiss him again, tugging softly at his bottom lip with her teeth as she does.
Maybe it wasn't exactly the best time to be letting it get too heated, but that was a worry for another day.]
no subject
Really, really lucky. Super lucky.
[Lunch dates and public places didn't grant itself well for passion, so heated as this is becoming; Hiro isn't opposed to continuing a bit longer. The tug at his lower lip causes his jaw to shudder in a short burst.
Perhaps it is getting too heated among straying hands and hard kisses.]
no subject
...Incredibly...amazingly lucky.
[She pulls away from the kisses reluctantly, her eyes half-lidded and affectionate as she bumps her nose against his again. The heated kisses felt really good, and that sweet, goofy little smile did amazing things to her heartbeat and while she knew the true purpose of all this was to watch stars, she can't help but to want to kiss him again. Which she does. The kiss is soft, but she lets her lips linger against his for a little while before pulling back.]
...at this rate we're not going to get any star-gazing done, are we?
no subject
Though that's not the majority, he's genuinely star-struck about her and how she readily accepts him. Stars and camping both are removed from the forefront of Hiro's mind. It's not a single tract, more it's over loaded by each kiss and brush of her nose.]
I'm seeing stars. [He whispers between breaths. It's a bridge he's thought about crossing, but not here or this soon. Some fooling around wasn't that far and he's near perfected control.]
Is that a bad thing? I didn't think... thought we'd wait a bit, but I'm not opposed to doing this more. [Which gets a kiss when the point is quite obvious.]
no subject
It's not a bad thing. Hearing that...makes me really happy.
[And each of his whispers is like a bright spark in her heart and she knows maybe there are better places to be taking their relationship further. Somewhere romantic, or his apartment (which she still intended to go clean while wearing that skimpy excuse of a maid outfit one day), some place he would feel comfortable in. She wanted so much to make him happy.
Veronica breaks the kiss and leans in breathlessly to rest her forehead against his, lightly sidling her nose against his.]
Do you...want this though? ["Me?" "Us?"
She tilts her head so she can catch his gaze again.]
no subject
I do. [Perplexity overtakes his expression when the situations takes a heavy gravity. He really does, in a good way to share and express love, it's just not what he imagined it would be.
Hiro's eyes shut and he hums in thought brushing his nose to hers.]
We should wait. [They open refocused. When emotions aren't helping, logic does and he's got reasons to hold out. Valid reasons.] The tent is a bit cramped and I- well, I didn't bring anything protection wise. [It sounds like backing down for something he doesn't want to back down from.]
I mean, I want to do this, just not... here. Or that far. [They can keep kissing and heavy petting is possible, the alternative on blame for his bubbling desires.]
no subject
Then let's wait.
[Because just like she cares about him, she knows that he cares about her as well, about her well-being and her happiness and she could kiss him again right then and there just for that.
And so she does, pulling away from the quick kiss still smiling.]
We'll wait. [Waiting doesn't mean never taking this step, it just means taking it somewhere they are both comfortable and she is more than fine with that. Though she does wonder what kind of protection they should be using. Did condoms and pills made for humans still work with werewolves? She'd never put thought into it but the fact that she would have to now only makes her smile. They were going to do this. Eventually. And the thought has her so happy.
Does he want to keep kissing though? She tilts her head at him.]
no subject
Good. I'd want better than a sleeping bag for you. [Although the stars are lovely as a backdrop romantically. He's plenty aware the stars are going to be forgotten on the fact of diverted attentions should they've went through with things.
Instead he's happy as it, super happy and all in for kissing more as evident by another planted to her nose for variety.] You're making me dizzy you know? [His drier tone neither suggest joke or serious, but his expression gives him away.]
no subject
Dizzy?
[She laughs, closing her eyes into the little kiss against the tip of her nose.]
Doing what?
[She kisses him again though the bright spark in her eyes should tell him that she's not oblivious at all to the effect she has on him.]
no subject
Let me list them. [The sparkle is a dead giveaway and given Hiro's tendency to look at her eyes, it's seen alright. He thinks; scratch that, knows she could pull anything past him with those eyes.]
For one, you're making it hard to breath. [All those kisses take a toll on his poor lungs and tender lips. He'd pout if he weren't enamored with keeping the kisses up, one for one and something thrice.]
no subject
[She tries her best not to laugh, she really does, but she's never been good at hiding it when she's happy and she breaks the kiss with a laugh before leaning in to kiss him on the cheek. Then on the jaw and to the tip of his nose.]
And? What other terrible things am I doing to make you dizzy, Hiro?
no subject
[Thing is, it's super working. Even when he's given a chance to breath, there's remaining dizziness he can pinpoint directly to her. Laughter like yawning proves contagious and yanks a light laugh of his own.]
I forget, because I'm dizzy. [It's true. It's hard to think until this sort of pressure, but he can think to kiss her jaw back and move his hands about her.]
no subject
Then should I hold you like this until you stop being dizzy?
no subject
Think you might, my head might just fall onto to your shoulder otherwise.
[He's not even kidding, but that's more he wants to lean into her shoulder rather than being slightly dizzy.]
no subject
[It's actually more that if he doesn't she'll beat him to it. She gently lets go of his face to wrap her arms around his waist and snuggle in close, rubbing her nose into the side of his neck.]
It's really nice. [There's a teasing tone to her voice as she laughs into his shoulder.]
no subject
It really is. [His voice is muffled, the scent of her shampoo clear and sweet. Sleep had some time coming yet, however if he were to sleep soon this was a very nice place to do so. Soreness would likely ensue the following morning, yet it would of been worth it.]
I could sleep here. [His arms tighten around Veronica at a slump.] I'm not falling asleep honest. [He's actually really alert to their general vicinity.]
no subject
[She shifts closer, holding lightly onto the back of his shirt.]
But I think you might be sore tomorrow if you do and we still have a lot of walking to do before we can get back. Besides, we have the sleeping bags all set out and everything. [The way she chuckles though, cheerful and amused is an indication that she would stay here if he wanted.]
no subject
[Hiro's voice calls out muffled and almost playful over dry.]
Fine. If we must. [He can't feign any drama into the response, instead he reels back some and nuzzles Veronica's cheek.]
Long as you're next to me, I won't mind. [Obviously she was and this sleeping on her shoulder isn't a good idea, but holding hands is fine and won't cause aches in the morning.]
no subject
Are you tired yet, or did you want to look at the stars some more, still? Since we didn't really get much of that done. [She had been more occupied with kissing him and had missed most of the stars.]
no subject
We could watch them and lay down. [It's not an epiphany of an answer, his thoughts a bit busy with nuzzling back.]
no subject
That sounds wonderful, let's do that!
[She's never actually laid down to watch the stars, not with anyone, and the thought of doing that with him has her excited.]
Should we just lie down like this? Or should I get one of the sleeping bags? Oh, or both? [Maybe they could zip them together and lay down like that?]
no subject
One might be a little snug, but I wouldn't mind.
[There's just the parting part Hiro isn't too fond of at the moment. Another kiss a bit brasher than the others takes Veronica's lips as his arms unbind themselves from around her. He scoots back and rocks forward to his feet, hand up and spread.]
I've got it. [It's nothing like tossing a jacket over a mud puddle, but he's treating it with the same sort of care grabbing one of the sleeping bags and finding a flat enough spot to lay it out.] Do you... have a preferred side?
[There's a giddiness to his tone that even his held back expression and drier tendencies can't quite hide.]
no subject
I don't have a preferred side. Do you?
[She really would be fine sleeping on either side but she helps him unzip it as she waits for an answer.]
The zipper side would probably be a bit colder, I could sleep there if you'd like? [Just so he doesn't get cold or something.]
no subject
[It's not meant to come across smooth in the first place, his hands to his waist and head pointed downward surveying the two spots with a greater importance than either really held. It is important to Hiro, an old wive's tale of what side of bed should be taken ringing in his head.]
No I will, higher body temperature. [A zipper isn't a piece of ice or unpleasant in any way, but it doesn't offer a instant answer to the question of what side instead of dwelling on an laughable small detail.
The zipper is drawn down and top flipped over to allow Veronica in first, his shows coming off in the meantime.] Did we pack any extra pillows?
no subject
We did.
[Even if it's just the one extra pillow. It's fetched and she sets it with the sleeping bag before she takes off her shoes as well. Settling down, she holds out her hand to take his and tug him down as well so she can tuck herself close to him.]
no subject
Seems we'll have to share that as well.
[Hiro says dull bearing a thin smirk of amusement. From sharing a sleeping bag to sharing a pillow is a lot of steps, relative steps if a sleeping bad was in any way close sharing a bed.
He takes her hand lowering with her and rolling in close, his hand reaching out to pull at the zipper thrice before he manages to get a decent hold. Then it's zipped up, mostly, leaving them facing the stars and the great night sky.]
You know, I'm glad we didn't miss this. It's actually really pretty.
no subject
[Just like the first time they'd held hands it just feels so natural and she curls her fingers around his even when he lies down with her and she laughs brightly, almost reaching out to help him with the zipper when he manages it and she settles against him instead.]
It is really pretty, isn't it?
[Picking the autumn stars was a good idea, that's what she thinks.]
We should come again when it's summer to see the meteor shower.
no subject
[There's no scientific backing to his assessment, the cooler air is preference and gives reason to snuggle closer should he actually need one. His eyes blink and glance over noting the weight of her arm across him, then they're back toward the sky admiring the enumerable stars.]
Very. [Even without light pollution, he's unable to really pick out where the constellations lay. Still, it's pretty as said spanning across the dark blue skies.]
Might rent a cabin in that case, unless the great outdoors is fine to you.
no subject
It is. And it's not too cold or too warm. It's perfect like this.
[She snuggles a bit closer as she says that.]
I'm sure anywhere is fine as long as we're together. [Because he wants to do this again and that's enough to make her smile.]
