[Their meeting had been serendipitous from the start. From a misfired text to lingerie pictures, the two of them had somehow started meeting up to run every morning exactly at 6am. It became a routine complimented with texts back and forth. She made it no secret that she liked his company, his uniquely dry sense of humour and the way he smiled though it tended to be a rare occurrence.
A morning routine had eventually become after-run-snack dates, lunch dates and now here they were nearly two months later on their first overnight trip together. Their camping trip was something they had planned together for a while, and Veronica had been more than excited, her cheerfulness only growing at the clearweather, the soft crunch of leaves under their feet and then the discovery of a clear river and a waterfall. Laughing she had taken his hand in hers, linking their fingers as she had drawn him over. The water had been icy cold but she was starting to slowly dry (and thaw a little) by the time they reached their little campsite and was warm now that they were sitting outside of their tent, watching as the sun slowly slips below the horizon and the first stars begin to wink into view.
It's a beautiful, unseasonably warm autumn night and it's the warm presence of him by her side that has her smiling softly and lacing their fingers together as she gently tugs on his hand to get his attention before leaning in to kiss him sweetly.]

I don't have a preferred side. Do you?
[She really would be fine sleeping on either side but she helps him unzip it as she waits for an answer.]
The zipper side would probably be a bit colder, I could sleep there if you'd like? [Just so he doesn't get cold or something.]

[It's not meant to come across smooth in the first place, his hands to his waist and head pointed downward surveying the two spots with a greater importance than either really held. It is important to Hiro, an old wive's tale of what side of bed should be taken ringing in his head.]
No I will, higher body temperature. [A zipper isn't a piece of ice or unpleasant in any way, but it doesn't offer a instant answer to the question of what side instead of dwelling on an laughable small detail.
The zipper is drawn down and top flipped over to allow Veronica in first, his shows coming off in the meantime.] Did we pack any extra pillows?
no subject
We did.
[Even if it's just the one extra pillow. It's fetched and she sets it with the sleeping bag before she takes off her shoes as well. Settling down, she holds out her hand to take his and tug him down as well so she can tuck herself close to him.]

Seems we'll have to share that as well.
[Hiro says dull bearing a thin smirk of amusement. From sharing a sleeping bag to sharing a pillow is a lot of steps, relative steps if a sleeping bad was in any way close sharing a bed.
He takes her hand lowering with her and rolling in close, his hand reaching out to pull at the zipper thrice before he manages to get a decent hold. Then it's zipped up, mostly, leaving them facing the stars and the great night sky.]
You know, I'm glad we didn't miss this. It's actually really pretty.

[Just like the first time they'd held hands it just feels so natural and she curls her fingers around his even when he lies down with her and she laughs brightly, almost reaching out to help him with the zipper when he manages it and she settles against him instead.]
It is really pretty, isn't it?
[Picking the autumn stars was a good idea, that's what she thinks.]
We should come again when it's summer to see the meteor shower.

[There's no scientific backing to his assessment, the cooler air is preference and gives reason to snuggle closer should he actually need one. His eyes blink and glance over noting the weight of her arm across him, then they're back toward the sky admiring the enumerable stars.]
Very. [Even without light pollution, he's unable to really pick out where the constellations lay. Still, it's pretty as said spanning across the dark blue skies.]
Might rent a cabin in that case, unless the great outdoors is fine to you.
no subject
It is. And it's not too cold or too warm. It's perfect like this.
[She snuggles a bit closer as she says that.]
I'm sure anywhere is fine as long as we're together. [Because he wants to do this again and that's enough to make her smile.]
